Huge thanks to K2 Stone and South Island Lift today as we bring in the Vancouver Island stone slab donated to become the base for the address sign. It's official - we are ready to go on the map!
Schneider Electric joined us to help get the fences painted.

Let's have a swinging summer! The first piece of the play equipment is in, we are almost there now.
The fencing is finished and ready for staining. A quick visit to the build site today, the fencing is now finished ready for staining and the last of the exterior painting is almost done. Just landscaping and playground to go now!
It's Key Day! Six families received the keys to their new homes today at Bakerview Place in North Saanich and a further four will be moving in in the coming months. Our thanks to everyone who made this build possible.
The Urban Systems team was on site this past weekend helping with some finishing touches at our build site! They worked on building and staining our fences and painting planters for our families! It was a beautiful sunny day and we were delighted to host such a wonderful team. Thanks for helping to make a difference in our community, Urban Systems!
The landscaping team is hard at work, creating all of the foundation layers ready for planting, it must be Spring!
The foundations for the gazebo and the signs are going in today and we are preparing for the playground.
The last of the kitchens are now almost finished in the 2 barrier-free homes.
The heating and ventilation team is on site this week getting everything connected up.
This week the exterior LED lighting has arrived for the carpark and sidewalk areas. Work continues on the footings for the gazebo and the base layer for the play area in about to begin!
Our thanks to Whirlpool Canada for donating the fridge and stove for eight of our ten townhomes at Bakerview Place, which arrived today. Local supplier Coast Wholesale Appliances is helping us out with the specific requirements for our two accessible units in the coming weeks.
Footings are now being dug for the gazebo which will form the heart of the shared community space and play area.
Huge thank you to Balance Home Cleaning! Building homes can be a dirty job, especially in a wet Victoria Winter, so it's important to get things nice a clean before our new Habitat homeowners start moving in.
Balance Home Cleaning spent the weekend working on 4 of the 10 homes which are almost ready for families.
This amazing team is volunteering their skills and time to make this happen and we cannot thank them enough! Nine people participated on Saturday and a further ten on Sunday with more to come in the next few weeks!
The team was busy outside today while the sun was shining, laying all of the paths around Bakerview place. These will give a smooth even surface for wheelchair access all around the development
The onsite bike storage is now coming together at Bakerview, huge thank you to all of the wonderful trade professionals that have helped make this build possible along with our corporate partners and donors!

This was a great opportunity for some more volunteer hours as our families work together to build their new community.
We have power! Paint, trim, carpets, kitchens and lighting! It's all go this week as each of our units start to come together. the focus is now on finishes and fitting all the internal components that make a house into a home!

Happy New Year! It's our first visit to site after the holidays and the drywall is now complete in all ten homes. This is a real milestone for our project.
In addition the pathways to each home are going in as we speak, so fresh the cement is still wet!
The access road into the complex now has a surface and we are moving along with our two accessible units.
Elevators have now been fitted in each and you can see all the doorways are wider to accommodate the needs of a barrier free home.
Each of these ten affordable homes are now getting a storage area built on at the back along with a shared bicycle storage area.
Preparation work is underway with curbs and hardcore for the shared parking as well. All four blocks are now getting their exterior cladding and work continues inside.
The first units are now carpeted upstairs and the final units have drywall installed.
The first kitchens have arrived! Our families got to choose from two colour schemes for their homes provided by Amy McGeachy of McGeachy Design Studio and the kitchens are being created by local Saanich business Tower Kitchens and Millwork! Huge shout our to both of these organizations for their support of this project.
Thank you Urban Systems! The Urban Systems Team joined us on Saturday and did an amazing job helping us to get eleven fence panels in place at the Bakerview build. Thank you team - you are amazing!
This week we we took some time to share the progress of our builds with our amazing Habitat team members. With tours running throughout the week our ReStore staff along with new and seasoned Affiliate teams had the opportunity to see for themselves just how quickly things are changing on site. Everyone asked some great questions, keeping the build team on their toes!
As the shingle goes on to the last building the first is already getting painted! With drywall complete in the first triplex each unit is running approximately 3 weeks following the one in front so our teams can move through them one after another.
What a Difference! Four complete buildings up to the roof! Feels like it's starting to come together now.
On today's visit to the Bakerview build site you can see the siding is starting to go on to the first Triplex and the roof and vapour barrier is on on the second triplex. The first duplex has a roof and the second is now up to the 2nd floor. Back in Triplex one the insulation has all gone in and we are starting to fit the drywall.
The first triplex is now at lock up, with windows and doors installed the insulation went in early in the week and the drywall arrives tomorrow! The second triplex has a roof and electrics are being fitted inside and the first of two duplexes is having the roof installed.
It was our privilege to host Geoff Orr, Mayor of The District of North Saanich at our Bakerview build site today. Geoff had the opportunity to tour the site and view the progress so far.

Construction Supervisor Matthew shares the latest news from Bakerview with Jim Walker, who heads up our amazing ReStore team and Matt who helps ReStore donors along with the rest of truck crews around Victoria. The second triplex is already on to the second floor.

We can't believe it, this is so exciting, building one is already up on the 2nd floor! In other news we are preparing to pour the foundation for the last of the four blocks and the slabs for two blocks next.
Welcome to the build site! Meet Steven and Siobhan, this is their first day volunteering at the build. They and their four boys will be moving in along with nine other families in a few months time.
It's the June 15th and the slab has been poured for the first building, the foundation walls are in for the 2nd building and the forms are in place ready to pour block three.
The pump truck is here and the concrete trucks are coming in one after another as we pour the first foundation walls on site. The forms have now started for the 2nd block of 4 on site as well.
John and Dave are the first Habitat partner family members to join us on the build site as we prepare the base to lay the foundations of their future Habitat homes. This is the start of 500 hours of volunteer service for our families! Well done to them both, it was great to share the day with you!

We're on the road to affordable housing! On a November day we took a trip to the North Saanich build site where curbs and access roads are now being laid. Things are starting to get active on this 10 home development.
It's early February and a visit to the new ten unit North Saanich Habitat Victoria build site is a great way to welcome 2019. It's going to be a busy year, with three potential build sites active in the next 12 months. Behind the fence and mature trees the North Saanich site has already been cleared and is ready for the first phase of preparations to begin.
