    ReStore Associate – Habitat for Humanity Victoria

    721 Vanalman Ave or 849 Orono Ave

    Position Summary
    The ReStore Associate supports store operations by providing excellent customer service, assisting with retail activities, and helping maintain a safe, clean, and organized store environment. This role works closely with the Store Manager, Assistant Manager, Receivers, and volunteers.

    Key Responsibilities

    Operations & Compliance

    • Follow all HFHV safety and human resources policies

    • Follow established store procedures

    Customer Experience

    • Engage customers in a polite, friendly manner

    • Communicate knowledge of HFHV’s mission, vision, and values

    • Maintain a neat and clean personal appearance, including branded attire

    • Maintain knowledge of departments, current products, promotions, and the price book

    • Provide accurate and helpful information to customers

    • Use safe lifting procedures when assisting customers with carry-out

    • Help create safe vehicle loads and prevent product damage

    Retail Activities

    • Accurately process register/POS transactions and returns

    • Bag merchandise and answer overflow telephone inquiries

    • Merchandise products according to established procedures

    • Organize items by department and keep shelves clean and faced

    • Price or markdown products under supervisor direction

    • Maintain safety standards in product displays

    • Remove unsuitable products as directed by managers

    Store Housekeeping

    • Maintain a clean store environment

    • Keep safety barriers and access doors secure

    • Keep public washrooms clean and stocked

    Volunteer Support

    • Communicate clearly with volunteers

    • Assign tasks to volunteers when required

    Safety

    • Work in a safety-conscious manner at all times

    • Maintain a safe workplace and report incidents

    • Attend safety meetings as required

    • Read and understand relevant safety manuals

    • Participate in HFHV-funded First Aid, WHMIS, and other safety training when appropriate

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma

    • Ability to lift and move up to 20kg regularly

    • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)

    • Valid, clean Class 5 driver’s license preferred

    • Criminal record check required (non-vulnerable sector)

    • Retail or thrift store experience preferred

    Skills & Attributes

    • Knowledge of home improvement and household product categories (furniture, housewares, décor, lighting, plumbing, tools, hardware, electrical, building supplies, outdoor products, automotive, collectibles)

    • Strong customer service skills and empathy for customers and donors

    • Good time management and organizational abilities

    • Team player with good interpersonal skills

    • Polite, helpful, and able to stand for long periods

    Compensation

    • $18.41/hour

    Assistant Retail Manager – Habitat for Humanity Victoria ReStore

    Position Summary
    The ReStore Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager in daily operations, ensuring a safe, efficient, and customer-focused environment. This role includes supervising staff and volunteers, overseeing retail activities, and maintaining excellent donor and customer relationships.

    This position is based out of the Langford location at 849 Orono Avenue, Langford.

    Required Availability: Wednesday to Sunday

    Key Responsibilities

    Operations & Compliance

    • Follow all HFHV Human Resource and Safety policies

    • Ensure compliance with established store procedures

    Retail & Sales Support

    • Perform keyholder and managerial duties (opening/closing, handling escalated issues, signing deliveries)

    • Lead morning team meetings and assign tasks

    • Record and report daily sales

    • Maintain inventory and store signage

    • Reprice or remove products as needed

    Customer & Donor Engagement

    • Greet and assist customers professionally

    • Promote HFHV’s mission, vision, and values

    • Stay informed about promotions, product availability, and donation criteria

    • Resolve customer inquiries and complaints

    • Maintain store appearance and service standards

    Human Resources

    • Supervise and coordinate staff, cashiers, receivers, and volunteers

    • Assign tasks and lead in the absence of the Store Manager

    • Assist with staff training and performance feedback

    • Arrange shift coverage when required

    Volunteer Engagement

    • Assign and train volunteers

    • Maintain respectful communication

    • Provide feedback to the Volunteer Coordinator

    Cashier & Financial Handling

    • Process sales at the register/POS

    • Perform end-of-day cash reconciliation

    • Handle returns, deliveries, and phone inquiries

    Marketing & Merchandising

    • Create and post promotional signage

    • Manage online listings (e.g., Used Victoria)

    • Collaborate with Marketing Manager on social media content

    • Ensure displays are clean, organized, and on-brand

    Product Handling & Preparation

    • Safely use material handling tools and follow lifting guidelines

    • Price and tag products according to guidelines

    • Work with Receivers to maintain product flow and presentation

    Store Maintenance & Safety

    • Keep store, washrooms, and storage areas clean and safe

    • Conduct daily safety checks

    • Attend or lead safety meetings

    • Review all safety manuals and procedures

    • Participate in training such as First Aid and WHMIS

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Secondary school completion

    • Minimum 2 years retail sales experience

    • Computer skills (Microsoft Office)

    • Valid forklift operator’s ticket (or willingness to obtain)

    • Class 5 driver’s license with clean record

    • Ability to lift up to 20kg and stand for long periods

    • Knowledge of thrift store operations an asset

    • Familiarity with home improvement items preferred

    • Product appraisal skills an asset

    Director of Giving – Habitat for Humanity Victoria

    Position Summary
    The Director of Giving leads all fundraising activities for Habitat for Humanity Victoria, developing and executing strategies to increase financial support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other funding sources. This role focuses on building and maintaining strong donor relationships, managing major gift initiatives, and ensuring sustainable revenue growth to support Habitat’s mission.

    This position is based out of the Langford location at 849 Orono Avenue, Langford.

    Key Responsibilities

    Fund Development Strategy

    • Develop, implement, and evaluate annual fundraising plans

    • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and sponsors

    • Lead major gifts, planned giving, corporate sponsorship, and grant programs

    • Maintain a robust donor prospect pipeline

    Donor Relations & Stewardship

    • Build strong, long-term relationships with donors at all giving levels

    • Create and implement recognition and stewardship programs

    • Ensure consistent and meaningful donor communications

    • Represent Habitat Victoria at events and public engagements

    Campaigns & Events

    • Plan and oversee fundraising campaigns and special events

    • Collaborate with marketing staff to create campaign materials

    • Ensure events are mission-aligned and meet fundraising targets

    Team Leadership & Collaboration

    • Work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors on fundraising priorities

    • Provide guidance and mentorship to staff and volunteers involved in fundraising

    • Collaborate with other departments to integrate fundraising with Habitat’s programs and communications

    Reporting & Administration

    • Maintain accurate donor records and ensure compliance with privacy laws

    • Prepare fundraising reports for the CEO and Board

    • Monitor and evaluate program performance and adjust strategies as needed

    Qualifications

    • Post-secondary degree in fundraising, communications, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

    • Minimum 5 years’ fundraising experience, preferably in the non-profit sector

    • Proven success in securing major gifts and corporate sponsorships

    • Experience managing fundraising campaigns and events

    • Strong understanding of donor stewardship best practices

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Proficiency with donor database systems and Microsoft Office

    • CFRE designation considered an asset
