Local Artists raise over $28,500 to help Habitat for Humanity Victoria Open Doors for families!Eighty-nine completed works of art, created on doors of all shapes and sizes from the Habitat ReStore went up for auction and raised more than $28,500 to help Habitat for Humanity Victoria build more homes for families in need of a safe and decent place to call home.
Open a door to a brighter future, Habitat Victoria’s first online charity art auction, attracted bids from across Canada with several pieces going for more than $1,000 each. Bidding was fast and furious in the final hour as art lovers vied to take home their favourite piece. “This was our first online auction and I am so pleased we were able to raise these funds. We look forward to creating more opportunites like this in the future,” commented Kelly King, Director of Communications & Giving at Habitat Victoria. Habitat Victoria would like to extend their thanks to all of the participating artists, presenting sponsor Pemberton Holmes and media partners; Used Victoria, Island Granparent, CTV, CFAX and Virgin Radio for helping to make this event such a success. “We have all been finding new ways to connect and support each other in the last year. These artists helped us to visualize the network that holds us all together through their vision of a brighter future. By giving their time and talent to help families in the local community, their art has become a building block for our next community project,” said Yolanda Meijer, CEO of Habitat Victoria. Winning Bidders will be contacted regarding next steps on Tuesday June 15, 2021 when payment processing will be made available.Winning bidders will be notified directly by email.
