Habitat Victoria’s premier fundraising event, The Gingerbread Showcase, opens in a few short weeks at The Parkside Hotel & Spa. The event brings together professional and amateur bakers from around the region in support of the work of Habitat Victoria.

Showcase entry rules, judging criteria and key dates
Dimensions
Creations must reside on a solid base that measures 61cm x 61cm (24 inches x 24 inches). No part of the creation may extend over the edge of the base.
A pre-cut wooden base can be picked up at one of three ReStores: Westshore, 849 Orono Ave, Uptown, 3311H Oak St or Tillicum, 50 Burnside Rd West.
Your creation must be a minimum of 45 cm (18 inches) in height.
Specifications
All components must be edible with the exception of the sheet of plywood on which your creation is built. Please note that entries containing prohibited elements (non-edible) will not qualify for formal judging and may be displayed at an alternate location, such as a Habitat ReStore.
Each participant must take full responsibility for transporting their creation to the Parkside Hotel & Spa and for setting it up on a stand which will be provided by Habitat for Humanity Victoria.

Judging Criteria
Judges will use the following criteria to determine awards:
- First impression
- Use of gingerbread
- Clearly interprets the theme
- Structural integrity
- Skill and technique
- Overall concept and design (proportion, unity of composition, flow of the design)
- Creativity/Originality/Artistic merit
Key Dates
- Gingerbread drop-off & final assembly: Wednesday, November 13, 2019 between 12 - 2pm or 5 - 7pm
- Judging date: Thursday, November 14, 2019 from 2pm – 4pm
- Kick-off Reception (by invitation only): Thursday, November 14, 2019 starting at 5pm
- The Gingerbread Showcase opens on Saturday, November 16, 2019 and will run daily from 9am to 9pm until Sunday, January 5, 2019.
