What was your inspiration?
There is an abundance of riches on the beautiful BC coast, but the tide pools stirred my imagination this year. Who knows what might be unwittingly enticed out of those pools by the sweet, spicy aroma of a Christmas cookie and a thermos of hot chocolate? “I love not man the less, but Nature more.” - Lord Byron How long did you take to make your creation? I expect that it will have taken about 50-60 hours to complete, having learned from my many rookie mistakes last year. What was the most challenging part? Frankly, choosing the idea and location, and not letting my imagination get too far away from the realm of possibility afforded by molasses and marshmallows. What are you most proud of? Tackling my fear of potentially making a fondant person that looked more monstrous than a sea monster Did you use a unique ingredient or technique? The isomalt (sugar-free) candies really do take the challenge out of making candy water. A bit nerve wracking when melting and pouring, but the results far exceed the effort required. |
