What was your inspiration?
Race Rocks Marine Ecological Reserve was the inspiration for our design. Our family has long had the tradition of making gingerbread houses at Christmas time. Now living in Victoria we have made visiting the Gingerbread Showcase part of that tradition. We all wanted to take this tradition to the next level and be part of this amazing event. How long did you take to make your creation? Including brainstorming, planning, making models and patterns, shopping, shaping, negotiating, reshaping, admiring, and celebrating...well over 100 hours. What was the most challenging part? Making the fondant and sculpting and shaping it. It was all so fun! What are you most proud of? We are proud of the lighthouse and the whole project including the preparation. Did you use a unique ingredient or technique? We used coffee grounds for the garden, whole rosemary for the bottom of tidal pools and coloured coconut for grass. |
