What was your inspiration?
Two things that fascinate children are trains and Santa. In the 1920s these came together as Santa rode the E&N Railway between many coastal towns of Vancouver Island. The train also allowed hundreds of families to reunite during the holiday season. How long did you take to make your creation? Over 200 hours (lots of fun) What was the most challenging part? Building a sturdy "won't-fall-down" tunnel was a real challenge. The steam engine required a lot of details that were quite tricky to create and assemble. What are you most proud of? The scene is designed to catch your attention then invite you in to see the smaller details - we did a lot of thinking about the design and I'm proud of it. Did you use a unique ingredient or technique? When making the Isomalt ocean, I thought "how can I show seaweed in the water?" Husband Gord suggested Nori (sushi seaweed wrap) and it worked great!
