Tom Harris Cellular - January 2016On a cold and wet Saturday morning at the end of January we welcomed Tom Harris Cellular to the build site to take on the grueling task of landscaping. While the weather was uncooperative at 9am, by the time late morning rolled around, the sun came out and it warmed up to t-shirt weather!
This hard-working team dug trenches to add drain rock, prepped the front and back of the four-plex to lay sod and then laid it in place, and planted many, many large shrubs, trees, ferns and other native low-maintenance plants. We took a break for lunch to enjoy hot pizza sponsored by Panago, then it was back at it. By the end of the day, backs were tired, feet were wet but the sense of accomplishment was palpable; the garden had been transformed from a mud pit to a green oasis. Thank you Tom Harris Cellular! |

TD Canada Trust - November 2015On Wednesday we welcomed the first of two teams from #TDCanadaTrust branches in the capital region. We have said it before but it is so true - this team really worked hard painting trim, installing closet door sliders, measuring for blinds and re-mounting our huge signage which had been moved to make way for landscaping machinery. Special thanks to Dan McH from the Sidney branch who organized the teams. Great job everyone! We look forward to the next TD build day on November 14!

EMCO - October 2015
Look who joined us Saturday for the fourth and final (!!) day of interior painting! We were thrilled to have #EMCOCorp on the site to paint walls, baseboards and trim. This great team of painters even brought their own steel toed boots. Once again, huge thanks to Panago Pizza at Borden and McKenzie who supplied our crew with a delectable array of pizzas.
"Thank you Habitat Victoria, the entire team had a great time!" |

Colliers - September 2015
Local Colliers International staff joined us for a day of painting and wow! What a fast, fun and efficient group they were! They painted the walls of one entire suite as well as baseboards, then cleaned up the site to a pristine level! Thanks so much to foreman Jon for keeping everyone stocked with brushes and rollers, Tony at #TuscanyStarbucks for the greatly appreciated coffee and tea and to our good friend Darren at Panago Borden and McKenzie for the scrumpdeli-icious pizzas. Three units are now painted with one to go!
"Thank you so very much for organizing the Habitat build day for our team. They very much enjoyed themselves and I hear they were quite the speedy workers! I think this is a winner and I hope we are able to be involved in your next project." |

100k Women - July, August & September 2015Generous in every sense of the word, our $100,000 in 100 Days women took on the task of installing insulation, and it was only fitting as the day was "pink" from start to finish. Working alongside people who will be moving into the four-plex added tremendous meaning to the day.
Our second team prepped the site for scaffolding which will be used by siding installers. Team Pink also cut and nailed on ledger boards used to affix the back deck to the house. Finally they separated dry wall from other waste to ensure proper disposal. What a team!! Our third and final team took on the task of painting Amanda's unit in a soft grey. Taking a look at their clothes at the end of the day, it was determined that pink tee shirts and grey paint look wonderful together. Once again we are so very grateful to Starbucks Saanich Centre for providing morning coffee and tea and Panago's at Borden and McKenzie for delicious pizza, including their scrumptious gluten free offerings. Thank you to all!! "Thank you very much for the photos and the treats, coffee and lunch were all delicious. It was a fun day and great to be part of helping Amanda get her own house." |

Deloitte - July 2015We welcomed Team Deloitte to their Adopt-A-Day and they continued to move the project forward! The team installed all remaining front doors and crawlspace doors and attached those crucial door knobs! They added blocking for towel bars and drilled holes for venting. Amanda, one of the people moving into the townhouse development, popped by at lunch to say hello. The team was joined by First aid attendant Joanne and master volunteer Mathew who provided that crucial advice on how to shim a door. It was a banner day!
We are so appreciative for their hard work and support of our four-plex. Thank you, Deloitte! "I wanted to thank you for providing an awesome volunteering experience for us last Friday. Everyone here at Deloitte had an excellent experience learning new skills and making our community that much better." |

Megson Fitzpatrick Insurance - July 2015On a beautiful, warm July day we welcomed a fun-loving and hard-working team from Megson Fitzpatrick Insurance to the build site for their Adopt-A-Day team build. MFI installed the first exterior door (hurray!!) and a few crawlspace doors, filled in trenches, pulled wire for the electricians on site and installed venting. In the process, they worked up a serious sweat! Electricians who were on site gave them great instructions on how to pull and secure wire.
By lunchtime, everyone was hungry for Panago who once again provided pizza-- delicious!! One of the families that will be living in the development dropped by to say hi. It was a highly productive day and Habitat Victoria is grateful to our friends at Megson Fitzpatrick for their generous support. |

Victoria Real Estate Board - January 2015It’s amazing what a team of ten can do! VREB’s hard-working crew raked and tamped two huge truckloads of sand around the perimeter and interior of the foundation, then spread and smoothed two cement trucks’ worth of concrete. A team of ten realtors representing the VREB picked a gorgeous, sunny January day to participate in their Adopt-A-Day experience. Starting in the morning they spread and tamped gravel and sand into the crawlspace area, laid down the vapor barrier and smoothed the concrete.
"Thank you so much for organizing the whole thing, what a fun challenge! |

RBC Foundation October 2014, June 2015, September 2015Royal Bank of Canada employees participated in three (3!!) team builds! They were there right at the beginning to help demolish the old house by stripping everything that could be reused or re-purposed. "This build day gave RBC staff a chance to connect not only with their local community but also with each other. With employees participating from all branches across Victoria, it was amazing to watch the teamwork among the group as we all worked towards a common goal knowing it was supporting four extremely deserving families." The second team insulated those hard to reach places around windows and doors
The final team painted one entire unit top to bottom - two coats! Way to go RBC! |
